By now, many of you probably know that a video of a young woman who opened a tub of Blue Bell ice cream in a Texas food store, licked it, and returned the tub to the freezer, went viral. Instead, they show people mocking the absurdly gross and dangerous challenge by reorganizing freezers, performing fake-out licks, and actually purchasing ice cream and walking outside the store with it before licking. There are even videos that show people buying ice cream normally. Can you imagine?

The ice cream licking will hopefully come to an end now that authorities have warned people to steer clear of the prank, but if you're still concerned here are some tips for purchasing.

Try to go for a brand that protects the ice cream container with a safety seal. You can also make an effort to get your carton from the back of the freezer. And if you're really desperate you can cut the top layer of the carton off. That's dedication.

Good luck out there, ice cream lovers.
