Announced on Monday, the multi-year deal pairs the studios behind Star Wars--Disney and Lucasfilm--with Nokia's new OZO VR camera.

"Utilizing the Nokia OZO to capture our behind-the-scenes material allows viewers to be transported to fantastical locations and virtually visit the incredible sets where their favorite Star Wars scenes were captured," said Lucasfilm's senior vice president of franchise creative and strategy, Brian Miller, in a statement.

The first major collaboration: Star Wars: The Last Jedi VR, which doesn't yet have a release date.

Nokia's agreement with the Star Wars franchise will include providing OZO cameras ($45,000 a piece) as well as software support.

This isn't Disney's first dive into VR with OZO, which was also used with The Jungle Book, Pete's Dragon, and Alice Through the Looking Glass. But Star Wars is the crown jewel of the studio, so this VR outing will be more scrutinized by fans and industry watchers alike.

The cinematic version of Star Wars: The Last Jedi is set to hit theaters on December 17.
