Volkswagen has cut the starter price for its ID.UNYX014 Archives the first model from the company’s China-exclusive all-electric ID.UX series from RMB 209,900 to RMB 169,900 ($23,480), representing a 19% reduction just four months since its launch in July. Customers who put down their orders and completed the payment process before Nov. 8 will receive a rebate, a move set to avoid a potential Chinese consumer backlash, financial media outlet Yicai reported. Volkswagen is also delaying the launch of the second ID.UX model, initially designed with its Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB) platform, from next year to 2026 company sources told local media outlet AutoPix on Nov. 8. The move is part of a strategy shift for Volkswagen Anhui, a joint venture by the German auto giant with Chinese manufacturer JAC, to build future electric vehicles based on the so-called China Electronic Architecture (CEA) with technology partner Xpeng Motors, the report said.
